A scrappy, but well fought match by Scotland, and what a result! I just hope that we can raise our game for this Sunday, when we face the New Zealand All Blacks.

The defending world champions are having a really tough time of it in the Rugby World Cup at the moment. Dogged by injury, and a general lack of cohesion on the pitch, last nights result against the Springboks (RSA) in Paris was a crushing one. The 'Boks dominated the game from the opening minutes, locking their opponents within their own half, not giving them any chance to move the ball at all.

England really have to pull something out of the bag, if they are to progress to the knockout stages of the tournament. I hope they do, and I wish them all the best. That may sound strange coming from a Scotsman, but I would really like to see ALL the Home nations  (England, Scotland, Republic of Ireland & Wales) progressing to the knockout stages, and really taking their game to the stronger southern hemisphere nations (NZ, Australia & RSA) who always seem to dominate at these tournaments.

Personally, I hope that Scotland's First XV can emulate our First XI's recent successes on the international sports stage. However, given that all of the Home nations have not really had a great start to this tournament, I think it will be an uphill job for all of them to make it through to the knockout stages.
